Ahead of this weekend’s Derby & Oaks Trials, we have a few talking points ahead of Saturday’s meeting…
There is a total of 25 entries for both Derby & Oaks Trials races (11 for Derby Trial and 14 for Oaks Trial) with some notable trainers including four from Aidan O’Brien, three from John and Thady Gosden, and three from Ralph Beckett including The King & The Queen’s horse, Treasure.
Aiden O’Brien looks to continue his strong form of winning four of the last 11 runnings with Illinois and The Euphrates in the Derby Trial, and Port Fairy and Rubies Are Red in the Oaks Trials.
John and Thady Gosden have entered Lyric, who placed first at Windsor last week, for the Derby Trials, and Danielle and Strutting for the Oaks Trials, both of whom are also entered into the Oaks at Epsom on 31st May.
A few other notable entries are 2021 Derby Trial Winning Trainer, Roger Varian, entering Defiance and 2023 Derby Trial Winning Trainer, Charlie Appleby, entering Hidden Law.
