Established in 1932, and usually taking place in May each year, the event serves as a trial for The Epsom Derby. In 2019, Anthony Van Dyck triumphed in the Derby Trial, and went on to win the famed race at Epsom and two years later, the runner-up of the 2021 Trials, Adayar, went on to win The Derby. The 2022 winner was United Nations ridden by Ryan Moore, trained by Aidan O'Brien.
